The most famous of these include:
• Lingaraj Temple
• Mukteswar Temple
• Bindu Sagar
• Shatrughaneswar Temple
• Vaital Temple
• Parashurameswar Temple
Located on the coasts of River Mahanadi a trip to Bhubaneswar will take you back in time – get ready to be mesmerized by the history, culture, dance and people of this amazing city.
The Golden Triangle
One of the top attractions in the East of India is the destinations known as the “Swarna Tribhuja” – Golden Triangle – which are made up of Puri (a site of religious significance ) and Konark a city on the coast by the Bay of Bengal. Konark is the site of the 13th-century Sun Temple, also known as the Black Pagoda, built in black granite during the reign of Narasimhadeva-I and now a World Heritage Site.
Konark is also home to an annual dance festival called Konark Dance Festival, held every December, devoted to classical Indian dance forms, including the traditional classical dance of Odisha; Odissi.
While you are in Swarna Tribhuja you must also check out the famous applique work of Pipli; these brightly coloured and layer garments are magnificent, the Ikat sarees, cane furniture from the region and Bidri-ware all beautifully crafted using traditional methods.
