Pitch side ponderings with Poland’s Pawel Bratkowski

April 28, 2014
A few words from Poland's hero of the day

Here is our daily 'pitch side ponderings' with Poland's Pawel Bratkowski after his team chalked up a 2-1 against Ireland. Bratkowski scored the winning goal in the last minutes of the match.

Poland impressed here in Kuantan so far, yesterday you were close to winning a point against Japan and today you beat Ireland. Did you expect such a promising start into the Pahang Hockey Champions Challenge 1?
We always believe that we can win, that’s why we fight until the last minute of the match. We are here to perform well in every game and of course we will try to get as many points as possible. We have been to Malaysia before, so we knew which weather conditions we can expect.

On Tuesday you are facing New Zealand in your remaining pool A match. What do you think of this encounter and where do you want to finish at the end of the tournament?
We want to reach the top four! Tuesday’s match will be another tough game but we have learned from the mistakes we made against Japan.

What is special about Team Poland?
We are young and ambitious. We are a good group and we have a lot of fun together.
