Pitch side ponderings with Korea coach Shin Seok-Kyo

April 28, 2014
A few words from Korea's coach

Here is our daily 'pitch side ponderings' with Korea coach Shin Seok-Kyo speaking about his team’s performance at the Pahang Hockey Champions Challenge 1 in Kuantan so far.

Korea’s opening match against Canada was tied 3-3, yesterday you defeated Malaysia 3-1. What do you think of your team’s performance so far?
Canada is a strong team, however, we were mentally a bit down after conceding twice in the last minutes. Canada were able to score because our players made individual mistakes. Yesterday, we were aware of a good Malaysian team. We won the match thanks to good tactical and individual play.

What do you think of tomorrow’s match against France?
We want to win this as well although it will be another tough encounter. We know that France have players with good individual skills. It is our aim to reach the final here in Kuantan and, of course, we also want to win this tournament.

Korea are qualified for the Rabobank Hockey World Cup in The Hague. How is your preparation going?
The World Cup is the most important tournament this year. Two players are still injured, so they cannot help us here in Kuantan but they will be back for the World Cup. We want to reach a top five or top six finish in The Hague.
