Hat-Trick Hero Ni Zar relegates Brunei to Eighth Place
Myanmar treated their fans to an enthralling finish to Round 1 of the Hockey World League with a highly charged 5-2 victory over Brunei at Sengkang Hockey Stadium on Sunday morning.
Myanmar came flying out of the blocks with Ni Zar scoring through a penalty corner in the second minute of a game before Thura Soe and Thet Htwe added a second and third goal in the 15th and 18th minute respectively.
Although Brunei managed to pull a goal back through Yusup Mohammad Morshidi in the 20th minute, the players were visibly deflated by Myanmar’s flying start.
Five minutes later, Ni Zar added another goal to put Myanmar firmly in the driving seat as they headed into the half-time break with a 4-1 lead.
Captain for Myanmar Ni Zar completed his hat-trick 20 minutes after the break before Karim Andi scored another goal on the 57th minute mark to the delight of the Brunei Women Hockey Team who were cheering them on from the stands.
With back-to-back wins in the past two days, Myanmar elevated themselves into 7th place and relegated Brunei to the 8th place in Round 1 of 2016 World Hockey League.
