KAZ V MYA ( Pool B ) 2016 Men Hockey World League Round 1 - Singapore (SIN)

Match Review KAZ - MYA 5-0
Report from Singapore Hockey Federation
Kazakhstan keep qualification hopes alive with crucial win against Myanmar
The 12 April evening game between Kazakhstan and Myanmar was an entertaining one with plenty of good chances on both sides, but ultimately there was only one side that was vastly better at starting and finishing these chances.
Kazakhstan started off with the better side with well coordinated attacking play, but Myanmar also showed some real promise in attack with three up front and good buildup play in the BOD.
They were rewarded with a goal in the 10th minute after captain Nurkhan Sansyzbayev buried his shot past Myanmar custodian Myo Thu Ang from a move that he started after he had intercepted a sloppy Myanmar pass in midfield.
The Central Asians soon added another goal in the 18th minute after Bakytbek Tazhennov got himself deep inside the D to tap past Myo Thu Ang.
Despite being 2-0 down, Myanmar displayed a real hunger to score and worked hard to win back the ball. With most of the Kazakh side pressing deep inside their half, the Myanmarese were often able start swift counterattacking moves to frustrate their opponents at times.
Thet Htwe nearly scored in 12 minute but his shot was deflected wide. They also missed an opportunity to claw one back from a penalty corner in the 24th minute as Kazakhstan's defence were able to clear away the ball.
Kazakhstan continued to attack in the second half, and they were rewarded with another goal by captain Nurkhan Sansyzbayev in the 50th minute.
The Myanmarese continued to work hard and pressed their opponents to create chances in their half, including a penalty corner midway in the second half which they failed to convert thanks to the well-marshalled Kazakh defence.
As the game wound down, however, Myanmar made more mistakes in their passing, and Kazakhstan were able to finish them off with two goals from good build up play from the back.
Nurkhan Sansyzbayev would complete his hat trick in the 64th minute after swift attacking play allowed him to tap home from close range, while Talant Almen sealed a comfortable win for the Kazakhs in the 68th minute.
Myanmar's loss meant that they are effectively out of the tournament and their next game against Singapore would be a matter of playing for national pride. Kazakhstan, however, must win their next game against Sri Lanka in order to have any real chance of progressing to the next round.
