Hong Kong PRC Put Eight Past Vietnam
HK PRC dismantled the inexperienced Vietnamese side with a convincing 8-1 victory in the Pool A Match of 2016 Men Hockey World League Round 1 held at Sengkang Hockey Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
HK PRC dominated much of the proceedings with most of the action happening in their attacking half. Without a doubt Felix IU was the star man for HK PRC in the first half as he led the way with three goals and an assist.
It was a dream start for HK PRC as they scored within three minutes through IU Felix to go 1-0 ahead. IU was able to take advantage of confusion in the scoring circle to steer the ball home.
Felix had an integral role to play in the 23rd minute when he made a beautiful turn and before making a pass that beat Vietnamese goalkeeper for teammate Tsang Kin Kan to tap it in.
HK PRC were able to extend their lead with a penalty corner at the end of the first half. Felix was at the right place at the right time as his deflected shot ends up in Vietnam’s net.
The second half was more or less similar to the first as HK PRC continue to exert pressure on the Vietnamese defence. As the game progressed, Vietnamese crumbled and retreated into their own half. At times, it seemed impossible for the Vietnamese to progress beyond their own defensive circle.
HK PRC managed to score five more goals in the next 35 minutes as James Sheperdson, Ali Usman and captain Tse Man Chun all got onto the score sheet.
Despite HK PRC’s dominating performance, a lapse in concentration in the final minute of the game allowed Vietnam to steal a consolatory goal.
